SNOW DAY

Today is a snow day!

Ridgeview

Sorry for not writing in blog for such a long time. We moved from our previous school, Liberty Common School, to Ridge View Classical school. The school day starts at 7:30 in the morning, and ends at 3:00. However, the last half hour of school is study hall.
I am now in 7th grade, and 7th grade students get one elective. My elective is Intermediate Band. I play the Clarinet. But, this elective is only for the first semester. In the second semester, I have JuJitsu on 5th period. Band is second period. there are 8 periods in the school day. Since the day is longer than most schools, school started later in the year and will end earlier.
I sincerely apologize for not writing for so long in the blog.

Colorado

I am sorry I have not mentioned this before, but because of my fathers job, we have moved to Colorado. The city we have moved to in Colorado is Fort Collins. Actually, Fort Collins was once voted as the most as the best city among its size.
The length of the drive was approximately 1000 miles. The drive took two days. On the way there, we stopped at an inn in Nebraska. That inn was called the 1st inn. By the way, the states we drove through were (part of Illinois) Iowa, Nebraska, a little bit of Wyoming, and then we turned south to Colorado.
Since we have not sold our house yet, we have to stay in apartments. The apartments we are staying in are called the Pier Apartments. The Pier Apartments are currently trying to sell their land, but have not yet succeeded. Just like us. There is a pool and a playground. The pool was made for the apartment resident use only, however the playground is open to anybody.
I am sorry I have no photos for you to visualize my incredible journey.
Education. That is the question. Both my brother and I were taken into one of the best schools in Fort Collins. This is a free school and is a school of choice. The school is a charter school. There is only two charter schools in Fort Collins, Ridgeview Classical and Liberty Commons. Ridgeview Classical has a high school and a math counts team, and its chess team performed better than the Liberty Commons team this year. On the other hand, Liberty Commons has better scores in tests (average). My mom and dad think that Liberty Commons is much more tranquil than Ridgeview Classical, so that is the school we are going to. Since there are no spots in fifth grade, I took the test for sixth. I passed. My brother is going into eighth grade, but the highest mathematics course that the school teaches is Algebra Two. My brother Already did Algebra two last year. What we are planning to do about this is put Artem in the classroom, somewhere in the back, and make him do the college course Pre-Calculus while the teacher teaches the other students what they need to know.
For the summer, I have been assigned to read the book Journey to the Center of the Earth, by Jules Verne (you should try it, it is a good book) and my brother Captain Couragous, whose author's name is Rudyard Kipling. We both have to write a small essay on these books and on two more books from a certain list.

Hadley Scholastic Chess Tournament

On February 9th, 2008 there was a chess tournament. In this tournament, you play people only in your rating group. I got into the group of the rating 1000+ and won three games out of five. I won to Gruveer Singh. My brother was undefeated with a score of 3.5 out of 4. My brother got second place in the 900-999. I also got 2nd place.
The organizers of the tournament said that if you get first, second, third, or fourth place in the 1000+ section they give you a scholarship on the internet; length depending on what place you got. I got second place, so I got 3 months of the free chess school on the internet. Another person in the school who got the scholarship was Kenneth Martin, getting 4th place in the elementary 1000+ section and therefore getting a free scholarship on the internet for 1 month. The primary team got fourth place, so did the elementary team, but the junior high team got first.
